Equal rights for all fruit & vegetables.
Wonky fruit and veg. That’s what Kromkommer calls all the delicious produce that never makes it to our plates, but absolutely should. Did you know around 10% of fruit and vegetables go to waste simply because there’s too much of it, or it doesn’t meet strict cosmetic standards? That’s why Kromkommer is on a mission: equal rights for all fruit and veg, no matter their shape or size.
To help bring that mission to life, I worked on a range of projects during my time at Kromkommer. From designing bold campaigns and wonky content to illustrating a children’s book and an educational toolkit for primary schools. The goal? To spark curiosity, challenge food waste, and help people of all ages fall in love with wonky produce. Here you can find a glimpse of my work.
Book De Krommies — Meneer Tweebeenpeen

Spotlight for Meneer Tweebeenpeen!
Cheering for wonky school fruit with Carla Dik-Faber (CU) in the Dutch House of Representatives.
Educational toolkit — Red de Krommies
How does a carrot grow two legs? Why isn’t a heart-shaped tomato pretty enough for our plates? And… do people really want to buy wonky fruit and veggies?
These are just some of the curious questions tackled in this fun and educational toolkit for kids in grades 5 and 6, developed in collaboration with Wetenschapsknooppunt Universiteit Utrecht. Through playful activities, kids discover why fruits and vegetables grow into odd shapes, explore the issue of food waste, and come up with creative ways to save wonky produce from being thrown away.
